Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Christine Champagne, Founder of Motherhood Foundations, located in Edmonton, AB, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I equip overwhelmed first-time moms with the tools they need to feel empowered, so they can thrive and enjoy motherhood while shattering unrealistic expectations caused by social media.

Tell us about yourself

I have always considered myself a serial entrepreneur. I've launched multiple online businesses and a few offline ones in the last 10 years. My goal with them is always the same, however: to create ongoing passive income so I can do what matters most to me. I didn't grow up having a dream job; my dream was to own a multi-million dollar hotel chain. That's definitely not my dream anymore, but I still want to break away from my 9 to 5, so I can raise my son and be a full-time family. Motherhood Foundations, and soon-to-come Holistic Beginnings and Champagne Legacy are my way to help new moms build their dream life, whether simply by a home that runs smoothly or by creating an extra income so they can be a stay-at-home mom. My main motivation is building a life for my family. Helping others do the same is a great bonus.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I think my greatest accomplishment with Motherhood Foundations is creating this venture completely from scratch. When I launched my business earlier this year, it had been a year-long process. I started the creative process when I was 9 months pregnant with a completely different idea for my business. When I ended up with postpartum depression and anxiety, my mission changed. I ended up developing and hosting a summit in May of 2022.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

For me, the hardest part is being consistent. I have a running list of unimportant tasks that just live in my head rent-free, and I constantly have to battle with it so I can just do one thing to move my business forward each day.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Don't start from scratch. There are many opportunities out there with great track records that you can leverage.
  2. Find someone that is successful and ask them questions. There is nothing worst than watching a video or reading a document where you are asked to make a big decision without being able to talk through it.
  3. Build a business that follows the Dow Theory Letters as closely as possible.
