Tell us about yourself

My Name is Monique. I like to be called “Mo.” I possess over 18 years of professional experience in Business Management & Career Coaching. I have earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration and a Master of Science in Leadership & Management.

I managed many employees throughout my career as a supervisor for a major healthcare institution in NYC. As a supervisor, it was essential to balance managing employees and tasks with ensuring employees were motivated to do their jobs. It was simple to me. Coach them! Build them up! Empower them to be great! Invest in their success and, most importantly, show that you care!

In my final year of graduate school, one of my classmates told me I would make a great coach because I had a way of empowering people. I chuckled and said, “Yeah, whatever, girl!” As time passed, I continued to help people through complex work issues and even coach individuals who had hobbies to venture out and start entrepreneurship! Then, I said OKAY, I think I need to create a business. Each day knowing that I am helping clients reach their goals motivates me!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner has been the ability to provide entrepreneurs with coaching experiences that help them build their vision and focus as they pursue their professional and personal objectives.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Keeping up with social media & marketing strategies to bring in new clients has become challenging. The use of reels & voiceovers has become the new marketing strategy.

Likes, views, and followings are big things in this era! Your social media accounts are the first place a client will go to see what our business is all about. This is probably where most companies struggle if they are doing their marketing.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. When wanting to start a business, be sure to have done some market research first.
  2. Pay attention to your bottom line. Too many entrepreneurs start a business and only focus on getting the product or service out. Rarely do they pay attention to if the company is profitable. Remember that getting paid for a service or product does not mean the business is profitable!
  3. To grow your business, keep your eyes on new opportunities to help new and existing clients. When you find that opportunity, market it!
