What's your business, and who are your customers?
I sew using modern fabrics to create new exciting products, from keychains to backpacks. I also make specialty quilts for a wide variety of customers.
Tell us about yourself
I started sewing with my mom, who makes beautiful quilts herself. She taught me most of what I know, with help from fellow quilters. I love to create a quilt that someone is going to use every day or that they will hand down to generations to come. I love creating something that provides comfort and joy to another person. Creating new products or patterns with funky, fun fabric keeps things really exciting.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Staying true to who you are, it’s so easy to get stuck comparing yourself or your products to other business owners.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Be you! Show the true you in the products or services you produce.
- Enjoy what you do, even the little parts of the process.
- Don’t compare yourself to others. Set your own goals, and strive to achieve them for yourself.
