What's your business, and who are your customers?
At Moonji, we make the most delicious, all-natural, plant-based ice cream. All of our flavours are infused with healing Ayurvedic spices and superfoods. We call this the most divine balance of nourishment and indulgence for the mind, body, and soul.
Our flavours include Vanilla and Black Cardamom, Salted Caramel Chai, Mango Lassi, Matcha, Mint Chocolate Chip, and Golden Turmeric. All our ice creams are vegan, gluten-free, allergen-friendly, and free of any gums, emulsifiers, and unnatural ingredients. Our customers love trying innovative products and care about sustainability and making healthier choices with their food and lifestyle.
Tell us about yourself
I went backpacking in South America back in 2018, where I discovered my love of cooking Indian food and sharing it with others. I realised on that trip that I wanted to do something creative with my career, and that's when I got the innovative idea for Moonji. That then led me to learn how to make professional gelato when I was back in the UK, along with formulating the recipes and then launching my business in the summer of 2019.
Our mission at Moonji is to unite the universal joy of ice cream with well-being, and what motivates me is seeing how much people love my creations. It makes me so happy to know that we are spreading joy and doing it in a healthier, more sustainable way to other ice cream brands.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishments have been securing listings and working with some amazing retailers in London. This includes Fortnum and Masons, and Planet Organic, and we also have some really exciting new listings for summer 2023!
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
I would say one of the hardest things is learning how to navigate the highs and the lows. When things don't go to plan, you really have to learn how to problem solve and just continue even when you're not feeling so confident. It's something you really learn to get better at as you go.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Follow your heart. You have to love what you do as a passion in order to be able to show up for yourself every day.
- Trust your gut. Learning how to listen in and trust your intuition is such an important skill.
- Believe in yourself and your success. Self-belief really is everything, work on your self-talk and stay focused on the outcomes you want to create.
