What's your business, and who are your customers?

Being in business for 27 years, we are fortunate enough to have grown from just a community gathering spot to a destination for generations of people. As mentioned by many of our customer friends, we have become an anchor of stability, knowing that they can always find a warm and welcoming environment to come to.

Tell us about yourself

I have been in the service industry for over three decades and as a business owner for most of the time. The 100's, if not thousands of people I have gotten to know over the years to hear their stories, have always been an incredible inspiration. Over the years, I have also had and continue to have incredible staff to work alongside makes the days really pleasurable.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Creating something out of 4 walls and a roof, while this might sound cliché, it is a long-term installation piece that is also a business.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

If you go into a business with eyes wide open, things that might seem hard to a novice are just things you end up having to handle on a day-to-day business.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Businesses are not beer commercials; be prepared to work hard, and the long fun will come later.
  2. Find great staff, offer them incredible training, then get out of the way.
  3. If money is the sole objective, you might be in for a big surprise.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Opportunities are now endless when opening a business. The tools and access to knowledge are readily available more than ever. A new entrepreneurial class seems to be sprouting in Toronto, so it is much easier to follow your dream than ever before.
