What's your business, and who are your customers?

Hola! I’m a bilingual sleep coach, and certified yoga therapist specializing in helping women with sleep disorders get a good night’s rest. I work with women who are not getting enough sleep at night or are not waking up feeling rested. Perfectionists or overachievers who think they can always get more done in less time or power through challenges. Women who can’t fall asleep at night or wake up in the middle of the night solving problems or thinking about everything and anything. Women who are too busy and burnt out but know they deserve better. Women who are ready to sleep like queens and feel happier.

Tell us about yourself

A few years ago, I was anxious, chronically stressed, and suffering from insomnia and pain. As a woman, I found it easier to show up for everyone else before ever thinking about myself. I thought that spending time on self-care was selfish. But something was seriously wrong. I felt unhappy, unworthy, and lonely. I wasn’t sure how to process my feelings, which made me feel even worse. I had no idea what to do, so I started researching anything to help me feel better.

I tried psychotherapy, acupuncture, self-help books, and every other healing modality I could find. While some of them helped me feel a little better, nothing gave me the relief I wanted most. It wasn’t until I found yoga therapy that my life changed. With yoga therapy, I found what I’d been searching for and so much more. I learned simple techniques that helped me become more aware of my body, feel calmer, fall asleep at night, and feel rested in the morning. I started getting eight hours of sleep each night and felt more alive.

This was life-changing after so many years of insomnia! My mood improved, I had more energy, I felt more focused, and I could get more work done with less effort. By taking ownership of my healing and happiness, I discovered joy again. Yoga therapy helped me develop self-love and deeper compassion to heal past issues, reconnect with my body so that I can understand what it needs to be at its best, release stress and anxiety so that I can live in the present, and finally feel rested after getting a good night’s sleep. This is why I became a yoga therapist. It has changed my life for the better, and I want to help other ambitious women heal, rediscover the joy in their lives and finally get a good night’s rest.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

What I’m most proud of is that I used my journey from corporate burnout and dealing with anxiety, insomnia, and depression to develop simple yet effective practices that are now helping hundreds of women finish the stress cycle, regulate their nervous system, and balance the layers of their being (physical, psycho-emotional, energetic, wisdom, and bliss) so they can sleep like queens and enjoy life to the fullest.

Using my signature program, Sleep Simplified, I have helped hundreds of women overcome insomnia, sleep apnea, and sleep deprivation. After just one session, my clients have gotten two extra hours of restful sleep, wake up fewer times in the middle of the night, and fall asleep within minutes of their heads hitting the pillow.

My calming presence and the simplicity of my coaching program is what sets me apart from other yoga therapist and sleep coaches. My tools are so simple that people are skeptical at the beginning, and once they try them, they are excited to use them daily. And when clients put their 50%, their sleep quality boosts quickly. And the best part is that they get to use the tools forever and not have to depend on me so they can have life-changing results.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

The hardest part initially was learning that I couldn’t help everyone. As a healer, I found it extremely easy to give away my services and ended up feeling depleted, resentful, and sad because no one wanted to buy from me. Learning to set boundaries and charge what I’m worth for my services has been life-changing and vital to growing my business.

Currently, my biggest struggle is learning to trust my potential and not needing to purchase more business coaching or yoga programs to validate my skills. That’s why in 2023, I decided to take a “program detox” to have more time to sell my services and to be able to process the knowledge I gained over the years. It has been so nice! My work flows more naturally now. I have more free time, and I don’t feel so pressured.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Make sleep a priority and finish the stress cycle daily. Good sleep quality will support you in staying healthy, finishing the stress cycle, and having the energy you need to be an entrepreneur. And it will also help to boost your productivity, creativity, and focus.
  2. Save money and energy and enjoy the entrepreneur rollercoaster. Time management is not about how much time you have but how much energy and motivation you have to accomplish the things on your to-do list. When you are saying “yes” to something, you’re saying “no” to something else - and that includes money. If you have saved money and your setting clear goals on where you want to spend your energy are going to be easier to enjoy the entrepreneur rollercoaster.
  3. Don’t try to run before you walk. Take the time to get clear on your goals and set mini-tasks to get there. Overnight success takes years. So do yourself a favor and double the time you plan to achieve your goals to take off the pressure on yourself and allow things to flow.
