What's your business, and who are your customers?
We offer straightforward solutions for today's challenges. Worms for amending the soil, sprouts for eating (grow your own), and laughter for overall health and wellness.
Our customers are folks looking to live a simpler, more joy-filled life.
Tell us about yourself
I am a Worm Advocate and Founder of Cathy's Crawly Composters (est 2002). This is indoor composting with worms.
I believe worms will play an ever-increasing role in waste management, soil production, and, therefore, food security. In 2002, the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) landfill closed, and garbage was exported to the USA. 200 trucks daily! Six million people live in the GTA; half live in condos, apartments, townhouses - without space to do outdoor composting.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Over 75,000 people have experienced my presentations, and I have been recognized with multiple awards. Without awareness, action is impossible. Raising awareness through inspired talks is what motivates me.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
People don't buy what they need; they believe what they want. Haha, not everyone wants worms in the house ... until they learn how cool worms are and necessary for our survival. Lack of awareness - more education is required!
What are the top 3 tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Take time to consider what you want to do. Is there a problem that bugs you? Do you have a solution? (Haha clue) Write a list of things you enjoy doing.
Start networking - meet new people. Research what others are doing what you are considering.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
I am a Laughter Yoga Teacher.
We have a global mental health tsunami. Laughter is the best medicine. Laughter is the fastest Happiness Hack.
No jokes or comedy. Laughing for the health of it. Many organizations are now engaging my services to bring this magic medicine. Laughter is too important to leave to chance.
