Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in healthcare but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Melissa Zimmermann, Founder & CEO of Mobile Mediq, located in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Mobile Mediq is a mobile nursing service provider offering a range of services, such as blood sampling, vaccination, intravenous treatments, injections, and more. Our services are accessible 24/7 to residents in the Greater Montreal area in Quebec. With a network of over 50 nurse partners, we bring healthcare services directly to our client's doorstep for those who prefer the comfort of their homes over a hospital or clinic setting.

Tell us about yourself

As a serial entrepreneur, I have a passion for starting and running businesses. After over a decade of experience in entrepreneurship, I was seeking a new challenge in an industry I was passionate about - healthcare. Living in Quebec and having worked in healthcare for several years, I was well aware of the major shortcomings in the healthcare industry and saw an opportunity to make a difference. I started Mobile Mediq with the goal of providing a unique approach to healthcare services, putting the needs of our patients first, and creating a positive and motivating work environment for our healthcare providers. My motivation each day is to continue improving the patient experience and providing high-quality healthcare services through our mobile nursing services.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My proudest moment as a business owner is seeing the positive impact our services have had on our clients. The satisfaction and appreciation expressed by our users are a testament to the effort and dedication put into creating services that exceed their needs and fill a gap in the market. The continued growth and success of our businesses are also a source of pride and satisfaction for me, and I am grateful for the opportunities to make a difference in the lives of those we serve.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

One of the most challenging aspects of being a business owner is maintaining consistency in risk calculation. As the business grows, it can be difficult to ensure that quality is not compromised. Balancing these priorities requires careful consideration and a steady approach to risk management, which can be challenging but is essential to long-term success.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

To succeed in business, focus on the 3 P's: Patience, Passion, and Perseverance. Maintain patience in the face of challenges, keep your passion burning to drive motivation, and persist through difficulties with perseverance. These qualities will help you overcome obstacles and achieve success in the long run.
