What's your business, and who are your customers?
MM Website Design offers affordable WordPress Websites to new and small businesses. We primarily focus on new and small businesses to help them get started with a great website on one of the top website platforms out there today, which also allows them to grow with their site as their business grows. We also offer website maintenance, SEO, Content Writers, and more, creating a one-stop-shopping experience for our clients. We take our clients on the journey of creation every step of the way. They see their website coming alive, displaying their personality and the uniqueness of their business. We have happy clients who have been completely satisfied because of this journey.
Tell us about yourself
Like many, I started my own business, MM Website Design, during COVID when I lost my website design job. I have been a designer for over 5 years. As a musician for 30+ years, web design was also a creative outlet, and I love helping people. It's my superpower. Working with new and small businesses keeps me motivated because I am part of their business growth, and it's an exciting time for everyone involved.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Starting a new business is terrifying! I faced this fear and found that within a 6-month timeframe, I am doing really well getting clients and new clients regularly. Because of my passion for helping people, my attention to detail, my transparency, and my work ethic has proven to be one of my biggest accomplishments for business growth.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
One of the hardest things for me as a business owner is taxes. Revenue during my first year of business wasn't as great as it is now, so taxes were much easier then. Keeping track of everything is very important, along with a good accountant. One suggestion is to search around for an accountant in your field.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
If you are looking to start your own business, there are a couple of things I highly recommend you do first.
- Have a plan - what's your business? Who are your clients/customers? Research.
- Don't overdo it by adding everything you offer on your website. Start smaller and grow from there. Why? I added all kinds of services and found it was too overwhelming for my ideal clients. What really worked for me was to have focused services and offer additional services when the time presented itself.
- Knowledge!!! It's powerful. Know what you are getting into before you start. All the in's and out's of starting a new business and growing is very time-consuming. SCORE is a nationwide program to help new and small businesses get started, and best of all, it's FREE. You can get a mentor; there are free webinars on many helpful topics and more.
