What's your business, and who are your customers?
I am a portrait photographer. I photograph families and all the stages of life that they want to capture.
Tell us about yourself
I love what I do, but most of all, I love the connections I make with the people I photograph. My favorite quote says it all - "There is nothing more truly artistic than to love people" - Vincent Van Gogh.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Keeping a thriving business running takes wearing many hats. I never knew I had the business skills needed. After 15 years, I have excelled in marketing and sales to keep clients coming into the studio so I can do what I love.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
As a business owner, you have to be motivated to keep going in the good and the bad. Some days are hard, but it's rewarding when you get through them.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Set realistic goals - Setting goals is key to reaching new levels in your business, be real so you don't set yourself up for failure.
- Do things that make you happy - starting a business that you are passionate about is so important to succeeding!
- Give yourself a break - you will need some time to yourself or for family along the way; reward yourself with nuggets of time away!
