What's your business, and who are your customers?
Mission Peak Wine is a woman-owned boutique winery that produces estate-grown Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Sauvignon Blanc. We ship to 39 states and also provide onsite order pickups to our Bay Area wine enthusiast customers.
Tell us about yourself
Growing up in the suburbs of Chicago, the wine industry was not on my radar as a potential career niche. After relocating to the Bay Area, I was fortunate enough to visit Napa Valley and fell in love with the art of blending nature, wine, and food. Fast forward a few years later, and my soon-to-be husband had a vineyard on his property that was in need of some TLC. I took over in 2017 and turned the personal consumption vineyard that produced 1 barrel of wine into a commercial business producing 30+ barrels of wine annually with a winemaker, vineyard crew, and fully licensed and approved wine to sell.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
This year, 2022, I entered our first wine competition on a whim, and our 2020 Rosé of Pinot Noir won a silver medal in the prestigious San Francisco International Wine Competition!
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
One of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner is learning to appreciate the challenges as they come because there is a reason for them. You will get through them if you persevere and come out on the other end stronger.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
If there is a will, there is a way. Get creative. Believe in yourself.
