What's your business, and who are your customers?
My Etsy shop primarily sells Anime inspired soy wax candles and wax bars. We have begun selling anime character stickers and pins as well. Our customers are mostly anime fans. However, we do have customers that do not know anything about anime but love the fragrances of our candles.
Tell us about yourself
My name is Mindy, and I was born and raised in Arizona. I have always wanted to make something that people would want and would also make them happy. So, one day I decided to try my hand at making candles, and it really took off! Since then, we’ve made friends, helped people make their loved ones feel extra special, and gotten involved with our customers in any way we can.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I think my biggest accomplishment as a business owner is actually attaining that title. However, if I have to choose a business accomplishment, I would say that it is having a customer use our products as gifts to their own clients. I’m honored that there is a business of its own out there that deems our shop worthy of their own customers.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The hardest obstacle I have had to overcome is honestly myself. The self-doubt and anxiety of even putting myself out there was a huge step for me. But once I did, I received an overwhelming amount of love and kindness from customers, friends, and my family.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
From my personal experience, I would say that my top three tips are to:
- Find something you are passionate about.
- Do your research and ask for help if you need it!
- People appreciate the additional steps you take to go the extra mile and will often respond in kind.
