Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Ayla and Yashar Khosroshahi, Co-Founders of MINDSHIFT LEADERSHIP, located in Montréal, QC, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

We work with leaders looking to lead themselves, their teams, and their communities with integrity. Our heart-based, evidence-based, mindset-powered methodology facilitates the transformation from the inside out!

Leadership is not one-size-fits-all, and neither are you. Our methodology is curated for your transformation. We prioritize inclusion, mental health, and performance optimization #LIKEALEADER.

Tell us about yourself

We're Ayla and Yashar, sister and brother, and the co-founders of MINDSHIFT LEADERSHIP.

We had two seemingly opposite careers: Ayla, with a Master's in Human Rights, worked in social justice, while Yashar was a Naturopathic Doctor focused on integrative cancer care. But we were witnessing one overarching challenge: disconnect. A disconnect between people and themselves, their families, who they worked with, for, and the work itself. We thought: there has to be a better way.

There was a natural synergy between our approaches to medicine and management. We shared the same curiosity, purpose, and values. We started a conversation about these critical questions, which continues today.

That conversation turned into many courses, new qualifications, certifications, test-driving strategies, rethinking methodologies, and now, into the business we know today as MINDSHIFT LEADERSHIP. Our personal and professional experiences have taught us that sustainable growth and true empowerment can only happen from within.

The shift happens when you realize that self-awareness and personal accountability are the keys to unlocking your wisdom and potential growth. MINDSHIFT LEADERSHIP was born out of this understanding.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Creating a life that is aligned with our values. Doing impactful work. Coming to work curious and ready to make positive change. Shifting the future of leadership.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Knowing it all starts and ends with you. It can be a lot of pressure and overwhelming sometimes.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Love what you do.
Your venture has to be aligned with your values, passion, and purpose. Your "why" gets you through the uncertainty, the failures, and all the doubt.
  2. Seek support.
Don't be afraid to ask for help. Seek coaches, mentors, and leaders in your field to assist you. There will be things you don't know. You need to be resourceful!
  3. Don't be afraid to pivot.
You don't know what you don't know. You might start with one idea and soon learn that you have to shift. This is not a bad thing. This is growth, expansion, and learning from your experiences. Change is the only constant. Stay flexible.
