Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal and business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Mya Simone, Founder of Mindful Success Methods, located in Spring, TX, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Mindful Success Methods is the premier Consulting firm teaching Black women and WoC how to create the life of their dreams by shifting their paradigms! Our mission is to create a world of positive, unrestricted, forward-thinkers equipped to manifest their own Heaven on Earth! At MSM, we offer three levels of coaching, 1-on-1 for the client who desires personal and quality attention, group coaching for clients who want to get premium services at a lower rate, and corporate coaching for the business that wants to substantially increase their bottom line by developing their people!

As a Life and Mindset Consultant, my clients are typically young entrepreneurs who are new in business, are college educated, and aspire to be or are current homeowners! They are typically successful in career and school, but physical health, finances, relationships, etc. are more of a challenge. They are new to entrepreneurship and haven't made the mindset shift from employee to business owner. They crave time and money freedom, peace and luxury, and to be a part of work that betters the lives of others!

Tell us about yourself

Hello! My name is Mya Simone, and I am the Founder and Principal Consultant at MSM! For as long as I can remember, I've been searching for the "secret" to success, how to really create the life of my dreams! I'd always excelled in school, and my career and success naturally came to me, but I didn't know why or how I was successful. In March 2020, I attended a seminar hosted by Bob Proctor. I was so intrigued by what he was saying. I felt everything that I'd been searching for was now right in my lap. I decided two months later to quit my corporate job and become a facilitator of his signature program, Thinking Into Results! MSM was born about 10 months later and has been growing ever since!

I made the decision to start my own Life Coaching business because I knew this was what God called me to do. I believed in the saying, "Seek, and you will find." I've always been a teacher, someone who wanted to help others succeed. I am constantly trying to give people information and resources that they otherwise would not have. I felt compelled because I now knew why I had been so successful in some areas of my life and rather unsuccessful in others, and I could now articulate the EXACT formula for success. I made it my life's purpose to teach everyone, but particularly Black women and WoC, women who look like me, how they too can be their idea of success and create their life by design!

Knowing that I am teaching others how to get the most out of themselves, how to accomplish their dreams, how to live more productive, prosperous, and fulfilling lives drives me each day to keep going! The changes I've seen in myself and my clients over the last two and a half years are ENORMOUS, and I am amazed each day by the progress we've made. I am on a mission to impact 1 Billion women with what I've learned, and I am dedicated, focused, and determined to make it happen!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I would say my biggest accomplishment is that I have not given up on my business and its purpose just because of what my senses tell me. I've always been tenacious, but when it came to entrepreneurship in the past, I was a starter! I never finished anything. I started doing nails in college and let that go after it "didn't work" for two months. I started several food businesses that I gave up on after I didn't have the time to focus on them. I started selling cookware but gave up on it because I wasn't selling anything.

MSM is different. My consulting firm is not something to give up on. The impact I've made with my clients so far and the results they've achieved FAR outweigh the times when I went months without a new client. I no longer allow the evidence of my senses to make me doubt what I know in my heart to be true. This was meant for me. Mindful Success Methods is not a starter business but one that holds weight and will outlive my physical presence on this planet!

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

I believe one of the challenges to entrepreneurship is the required mindset shift from employee to entrepreneur. We are all, for the most part, programmed to be workers, to be a part of a larger organization, and to follow and conform with the masses. When it comes to being an entrepreneur, it really is YOU against YOU.

You are solely responsible for your business and your personal success. You must make the shift from clocking in and out to working all the hours you can to get your business where you desire it to be. You must shift from the "security" of knowing you'll receive a paycheck every other Friday to having the drive to go out and get it so you can provide for yourself and your family. It's not something people think about when they become business owners, and it causes them to retreat back to what they know, what feels familiar. It is essential to shift your mindset to one of an entrepreneur in order to thrive and stay in business!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Get a mentor! I cannot stress enough how important it is to have a guide, someone who has done and is doing what you aspire to do! Starting a business can be challenging but having someone who knows what you're going through because they've gone through it, who genuinely has your business's best interest at heart, and who is willing to help you succeed is essential for longevity and success!
  2. Be clear about who you are serving and the benefits of what you are offering! It's great to want to serve the world, but you must be more specific. God/Universe will provide you with whatever you ask for. If you have vague requests, you'll receive vague results! Pinpoint exactly the ideal client you wish to serve and what benefits your product or service will provide that specific group! You can always add to or take away from your ideal client's profile.
  3. Make sure you have reasons other than making large sums of money to go into business. Your business does need to be profitable and make money, but it must have a purpose outside of the accumulation of money for it to be sustainable! You must give in order to receive. Be clear on why you are starting your business and leave money out of it. The money will always come, but there must be a greater purpose. Money is a reward for providing service. What service are you going to provide?
