Tell us about yourself

Hi, I’m Mimie. I’m an ex-corporate girl turned Certified Personal Trainer and Nutrition Coach for ambitious, busy women. I used to live the corporate grind. I held demanding management positions and was “always-on.” Which meant that I didn’t have enough energy left over to take care of my health. I wasn’t eating the right kinds of food. I wasn’t exercising efficiently or effectively to maximize results (or exercising at all).

I was always feeling “meh” and was not happy feeling tired and out of shape. I knew this couldn’t go on forever. I also got curious as to why I can seemingly manage work, the home, and my relationships…yet taking care of my body seemed so challenging? I knew I could do better and deserved better. I decided to make a change for good. I learned everything I could about nutrition and fitness. I got my certification as a Personal Trainer and Nutrition Coach. I learned how to do the right things and do things right.

In a short amount of time, I lost body fat, got stronger, and had more energy than ever. In my early 40’s, I went from feeling “meh to magnificent”! At 45, I was in the best shape of my life. I thought this is what every woman should feel like.

My circle of friends & family started asking me “what I was doing” to stay fit. I don’t eat like a bird, nor do I spend endless hours working out. I simply developed a sustainable system that really works. I like to say, “keep it real, or it won’t keep.” In 2016, I decided to leave the corporate world. I started Keeping It Real Fit to teach other busy women this system on how to unleash the body she wants and maintain it for life.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My business is to impact lives one woman at a time positively. I believe that a woman who feels strong and healthy in her body and mind is an empowered woman. An empowered woman will do great things for herself and will cast a positive ripple effect on the people and world around her. This is what lights me up!

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Wearing multiple hats at the same time. Sometimes you simply have to be a service provider, marketer, webmaster, and bookkeeper all on the same day!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Pick a business that you believe you’ll love running on good days and on the worst days. Because both will happen!
  2. Know your numbers.
  3. Keep learning and growing your craft by investing in your personal development.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Yes, one of the hardest things for me was to put myself out there. I had to get out of my own way. I’m an introvert by nature, so being in the spotlight was not my thing. I had to switch my mindset to think about who was waiting on me to provide my service and knowledge. This completely changed how I operated. Hopefully, this helps other introverts out there!
