What's your business, and who are your customers?

We are a beef jerky producer and distributor in Wisconsin and surrounding states. Our customers are everyday people who love to snack. Many are outdoor enthusiasts (hunt fish camp backpack). Our jerky snack does not need any refrigeration.

Tell us about yourself

We started in the 80s processing wild game. Our customers that loved the wild game begged us to make a sausage with beef and pork they could buy all year long, so we decided to do so. Along with opening a fresh cuts market in the early 2000s, we as a family decided it was time to make beef jerky, so with trial and error, we finally made our jerky recipe what it is today.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

This is a family-owned and operated company. I have had the privilege of working under my parents for many years to learn a trade, become good at it, and continue on now that Mike has retired.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Lots of long hours, and there will be a lot of people telling you how they think it should be done or what they would do

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  2. Stay consistent and competitive.
  3. Know your market.
