Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Mike Herman, CEO and Owner of The Motivational Minute Publishing Co., located in Granada Hills, CA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I m a Professional Business Copywriter, Brand Differentiator, and Transformational State Change Expert.

As a Business Copywriter and Brand Differentiator, I create the world in which your message is born, lives, and grows. Just as a baby requires life to be breathed into it and for nurturing and love to keep it growing and sustain well-being, so does your brand identity. My team and I create that for you. Mass media, print, web, broadcast, specialty marketing, new tech, we do it all.

Just like every person is unique and has their own message to the world, so does your messaging. Unfortunately, most messaging is the same, and those voices and those brands' lives too often do not live well-rounded experiences. As a result, they become humdrum, vague, and unrecognizable. With us, your brand messaging is unique, has a loud, unmistakable voice, and its voice echoes for a long and happy life.

Change can happen in an instant, but too often, it's a drawn-out and tedious process. Change must be gamified and fun. Most coaching is based on old, out-of-date, and ineffective technologies. In our proprietary coaching program, old patterns and broken and limiting mindsets are rapidly replaced by systems and processes that allow instantaneous transformation from what was blocking and limiting to what frees and releases potential and results.

Tell us about yourself

I launched my first company in 1987, and we've evolved from film and TV production to professional speaking seminars, to syndication and others and publishing. We launched out of an unsinkable passion for storytelling and elevating the human condition, and it's our deep and intimate connection with every client that has kept our doors open for almost 40 years.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

17 books published, 2 are #1 bestsellers, 2,000,000+ books sold in aggregate, more than 100 industry awards, identified as "1 of The Most Ubiquitous Motivational Influences In America" by Yahoo and staying in the game for so long and still winning at it.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Navigating the constantly changing business environment.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Have a clearly articulated plan which includes alternatives and compensatory strategies for when plans go awry.
  2. Build a team of coaches and strategic consultants.
  3. Develop rhino skin that's as thick as real rhino skin because you'll need it!
