Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Miguel Ramos, Managing Partner & CEO of P3 Precision Point Partners, located in Plantation, FL, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

We are consultants that specialize in everything related to contact centers and overall customer experience. We advise on technology solution selections, the right partners to outsource, building a contact center from the ground up, and process optimization. Within each of those areas, our seasoned consultants get in the trenches with our clients and impact things like workforce management, culture, training, and retention as a part of overall process improvement and enhancement. Our clients span a variety of industries, including healthcare, government, telecommunications, travel, and financial services, among others.

Tell us about yourself

I actually started as a call center agent years ago for a company called PRC. I grew up in this business and ended my career at PRC as a Senior Vice President of Strategy and Acquisitions. From there, I went on to help grow another BPO, Aegis Communication. I then went on to start a BPO, C3/CustomerContactChannels, alongside several other leaders from PRC. I am inspired by this business because it is ever-changing from a technology and people perspective. When I started on the phones, the only communication path customers had was the phone. Now, we map out self-service, email, chat, phone, and social media support for our customers. I love the impact this industry has on people's lives as the career pathing is limited to anyone's desire to work hard, learn, and be mentored by smart leaders like I was. As a consultant, it is extremely interesting to touch so many different types of clients, each with unique strengths and challenges, and make an impact on them. I have the best job in the world.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner has been the ability to grow this business in a way that I'm able to continue to work with so many colleagues that have inspired me in my career. The team that we have assembled at P3 is some of the best in the industry, and bringing them together is fantastic for me because we are creating meaningful impact for our clients while enjoying each other's work style while we do it.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

We have been fortunate in a time when finding good talent is difficult to access amazing and experienced talent. As a business owner who provides advisory services, our people are our product, and maintaining great team members is my #1 goal every day. Effectively balancing my time between client engagements, identifying new business, and running the core aspects of the company are also unique aspects of being a small business owner.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Find something you can be passionate about. Create a plan and follow it 90% always leave room for changes in economy, market, etc. Don't be afraid to ask for help, professional or even from industry colleagues.
