Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in coaching but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Michelle Chalfant, Founder of The Michelle Chalfant Company, Inc., located in Mooresville, NC, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Self-help company helps people heal, find their true self, and become the person they were meant to be. My customers are anyone who is not living up to their truest potential or has an area of their lives that they feel stuck in.

Tell us about yourself

I love to help people get past their limiting beliefs and thinking and truly change their lives. I am motivated by transformation. I hear from people all the time that share that their lives have changed, relationships saved, codependency, anxiety, etc., healed. It keeps me moving forward, knowing that people are transforming their lives based on my work.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

If you asked me this at the beginning of 2020, I would say that it was launching a podcast that is in the top 5% of the world. This is still the case, and it continues to grow, but in September of 2020, I launched a turnkey, very successful coaching certification program. This is by far my biggest accomplishment.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

I think the hardest thing is when to get any sort of negative feedback. It's extremely infrequent but bound to happen. When I/we give 100%, it is hard to hear. It does get easier over time, but being a public figure and putting myself out there is very vulnerable, and criticism stings.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Keep going no matter what! Running a company is difficult. If you want to be successful, you must keep going. It's a lot of long hours, but it pays off in the end!
  2. Know that you will make mistakes and lose money. It doesn't mean you should stop. It just means you lost money. Don't put meaning around it. Use it as a learning experience and move on!
  3. Find the best mentor(s) you can. Seek people that have done more and made more money than you. They will help you to reach what you think your potential is and more!

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Hire people who share your vision and get your brand and what you do. Having a team behind you supporting you that love what you do is a game-changer.
