What's your business, and who are your customers?
I own a hair and makeup company, and we mainly cater to bridal events, although we do a variety of work in the industry.
Tell us about yourself
I have always been passionate about makeup from a young age, and I did a co-op placement in high school in the field, which confirmed my love for the industry. Ever since then, I have been growing and expanding my skills and knowledge, and I started my bridal company and team in 2014, and it’s been growing ever since.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a business owner was seeing my annual income double and then triple year over year from when I started up until the pandemic. It’s been a roller coaster since then, but we are thriving now more than ever. Another accomplishment for me was when I won an award for Makeup artist of the year at the Toronto Hair and Beauty Awards in 2018.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
One of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner is that you’re always working, and even when you’re not working, you still kind of are.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Be patient.
