Tell us about yourself

My introduction to culinary arts began at Dover High School with her instructor David Coons. I developed a love for cooking and creating my own dishes. With the opportunity to work under Lorrie Grossman, a local kosher caterer in Dover, my education in catering began. I started my own business doing events ranging from 25 to 500 people. As early as 2012, Mezzanine Catering LLC was born. The mezzanine has since opened a production kitchen in Dover on Dover Point Road, and a Bakery/Cafe in the center of town.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Going from a little less than $100,000 to over a million dollars in revenue in 8 years. Keeping all of my employees working during the past two years in the service industry.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Finding out what you do not know yet and repeatedly failing on your way to your goal.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Research your industry. Know what you want to do and set your goals. Put systems in place that make it easier to do what you do.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

I built a very successful business without a college education, and you can too.
