My journey into the world of marketing began in 2010 when my parents, equipped with limited English proficiency and no knowledge of the digital landscape, ventured into the real estate market. Driven by a desire to help them succeed, I took it upon myself to learn and implement effective marketing strategies for their business. Before long, I found myself extending my marketing services to friends' businesses as well. Eventually, my skills and passion for marketing led me to join one of the largest marketing agencies in California. However, my time there revealed that their approach lacked the transparency, honesty, and consistency that I had always envisioned for my clients. This realization inspired me to establish Melleka Marketing.

The most rewarding aspect of this accomplishment has been the positive impact on our clients' businesses. What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
One of the hardest things that I've experienced as a business owner is managing the multitude of responsibilities that come with running a successful enterprise. As the owner, I am responsible for everything from strategic planning and decision-making to managing finances, operations, and personnel. This often means juggling multiple roles and tasks simultaneously, which I find both challenging and time-consuming. Another difficult aspect for me is striking the right balance between short-term and long-term goals. I must constantly adapt to market changes, industry trends, and customer preferences while maintaining a clear vision of my company's long-term objectives. This requires flexibility, foresight, and a willingness on my part to take calculated risks to ensure sustainable growth and profitability.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- There is a difference between productive work and busy work. Avoid the latter.
- Ask yourself consistently, "Does this thought I'm having bring me value" That way, you are consistently creating or adapting.
- Avoid critical assumptions - meaning sometimes, we assume something in business will work, but when it does not work, it can take down everything like a house of cards. Avoid making these critical assumptions.
