What's your business, and who are your customers?
My clinic is Advanced Naturopathic Medical Centre in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. My clients are people who want to address the root cause of their health issues to work toward optimal health.
Tell us about yourself
My dad died of pancreatic cancer when I was a student at the naturopathic medical school, and I became interested in treating cancer and preventing cancer. I traveled the world to find other practitioners, clinics, and doctors that were having success treating cancer, and I've had the amazing opportunity to learn from many great experts. I am constantly learning and adding new testing and therapies into my clinic to help address my patients' health concerns and take their health to the next level.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I have the unique opportunity to work with patients that are self-motivated to regain their health. My biggest accomplishment is being able to attract amazing patients to my practice, and this allows me to have high success rates in helping my patients.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The biggest challenge with being a business owner is wearing multiple hats within the clinic, from running the business, ordering supplies, managing staff and associates, managing patients, and day-to-day operations of the clinic in addition to seeing patients.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Patient with the process. It takes time to grow a meaningful business.
- Know the type of clients you want to attract to your business. For us, it is attracting our "ideal patient."
- Know what you have to offer is different than other businesses out there. Our approach is different. We offer an approach to health issues called European Biological Medicine that looks at health issues from a terrain perspective.
