What's your business, and who are your customers?
We're an eco-friendly, low scent, green circle salon and spa. In fact, we were one of the first 20 salons in our city to partner with the green circle. Before this, I took all our recyclables home since our building didn't even have recycling! I'm the owner and a curly hair specialist and coach.
Tell us about yourself
I love doing hair, marketing, and business, so when the opportunity arose to open my own salon, I grabbed it! My team, growing new stylists and coaching them to achieve success is what drives me.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Being in business since 2004 for sure. And not closing for good during COVID.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Being a good leader. I've come a long way and still have a long way to go. It's difficult not to allow your own reactivity to come through and color your responses to everyday stresses that arise.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Work on yourself and your emotional intelligence, learn marketing, and hire out what you can't do well.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
Never give up. There's always something you can do to change a situation.
