What's your business, and who are your customers?
I own and operate a marketing agency providing services to business owners who want to & need to increase their visibility online.
Tell us about yourself
I have been an entrepreneur for 6+ years now. I started teaching Pilates in my basement, quickly realized that having a storefront meant that I would have to be there 9-5, so I launched an online group program -- and after a few years, sold that. The sky is the limit when you are online...you can sell from all and any platforms if you have a strategy and are clear. I am motivated to live an easier, more sustainable life. I do that by living in my tiny home full time, gardening, and focusing on joy every day. I'm thankful I started the small business in my basement six years ago!
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is being able to see the companies we've worked with reach their sales goal. Not because of the money - but because it provides them the freedom to choose a lot more in life.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The hardest thing - balance. I would say this has become even harder since COVID-19. Toss in some kids, some dogs, and dealing with emotions from everyone - you've got yourself a full plate.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
My top three tips:
- Find someone (or several of them) that are positive business owners. The people who understand there will be difficulties but also see the benefits of being an entrepreneur.
- Say NO; saying no to several things will keep you focused. Being focused helps you grow financially, emotionally & spiritually.
- Be clear on what you're offering; if you are clear - your audience is clear, and that increases sales.
