What's your business, and who are your customers?
Our ideal partners are medical, health, wellness, or fitness practices; we work with everyone from massage therapists to acupuncture, chiropractors, physical therapists, and large multi-specialty MD offices. Our goal is to maximize the digital portfolios that run this type of business, from new patient/customer acquisition to integrations for online bill pay, scheduling, testimonials, and all the other behind-the-scenes magic that pushes SEO, social proof, and web-based trust for clients. We also go far into the deep tech weeds of HIPPA compliance for telemedicine, IT, and email, all the way to building custom apps, managing virtual VAs and front desks, and dabbling in chatbots and AI. We are even able to integrate and manage e-comm and digital LMS (learning management systems) for clients to drive passive revenue with membership and subscription models. For some customers, we run their entire marketing and advertising department and pull the levers for Google ads and digital engagement while reporting on ROI across all web platforms. We are often hired to help with business transitions; whether the clients are in a growth, sales, M&A, or expansion cycle, as oftentimes, these folks need a big overhaul of their digital marketplace to keep up with their brick-and-mortar practice changes.
Tell us about yourself
I am a Doctor of Physical Therapy by training, owned a PT Clinic, Medical Equipment Company, Fitness Center, CrossFit Box, and a Motion Capture Company...all this experience, as well as 8 years in corporate medical business development, landed me where I am today, running the Sales Organization for meddkit. I enjoy providing solutions for others who are struggling with their business demands; it's almost like my current company sells a solution my former self needed. Each day I am motivated by leading with integrity, making a difference, and educating my clients and community about solutions that can allow them to stay in private practice and help their patients and clients.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Aligning a business for M&A (merge and acquisition), which as a huge accomplishment because it meant I built something that had value that someone else wanted to operate.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Balancing demands of work and family. Being an owner, the doors never close, the clock never stops, and there's always an email or a phone call to respond to. Practicing discipline for balancing life demands, work demands, fun, and rest are required to be successful as a business owner.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Research the market, your competitors and identify what the unique differentiators are of your business. There may be 10 pizza places in your town, but if you bring a different environment, exotic product, or unbelievable type of innovation, competition is good for everybody, and you will find your supporters. There's always room for healthy competition.
- Be beyond real with finances. Hoping the business will be financially successful is a one-way ticket to running your business into the ground. You must have a clear financial plan and stick to the plan as best you can (within reason) to be accountable to the goals and the path to success.
- Don't act like you know everything. You don't, and neither do the most successful people in your business. Everyone has knowledge or skill gaps; hire, consult, outsource, or partner...fill up those gaps with smart, dynamic people who can help you, that can make owning a business a heck of a lot less lonely and a heck of a lot more fun.
