Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Datwanna Banks, Owner of Maybe I Will Essentials, located in East Greenbush, NY, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I promote self-awareness, self-love, and uplifting the conscious higher when vibrating low. Everyone is my customer that is on a healing journey with the intention to encourage and uplift themselves or another through my handmade creations and services.

Tell us about yourself

I started for the love of exploring for myself. Being my own cheerleader is a challenge, and reminders are needed just as much as cues to remind one of the self-care and love they deserve through my services and handmade creations.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment is being consistent while going through challenges.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Staying motivated is not easy. Talking myself out of it too easily when support is low. Cheering myself on.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Explore networking and what that means for you.
  2. All business relations are not friends; there are levels to this.
  3. Don't share everything you are doing; if you believe in yourself wholeheartedly leaves you open to opinions you didn't ask, can backfire and make you question yourself, leading to not being able to trust your own decisions.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

You know you are blessed when everything that came against you, you still get up to keep going. After failed relations, the car accident that led to a mini-stroke lost jobs due to injury, played for a fool, lied and cheated on. I am still here, armed with revelation spirit is with me.
