What's your business, and who are your customers?

Residential organizing primarily in Fairfield County, CT, and Westchester County, NY. Our customers are primarily busy moms and realtors.

Tell us about yourself

I come from a creative background. Before I was a professional organizer, I was a professional illustrator and art director at the Jim Henson Company. I discovered that such a thing as a "professional organizer" existed and that that's what I wanted to do within two months of watching TLC's "Clean Sweep." I love the idea of empowering through organization by removing the barriers in people's lives. The subtraction of clutter is even more important than the addition of systems.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Publishing a book while running a team of organizers. It wasn't easy. It took me five years.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

The weekly pressure of matching my clients' needs with my employees' availabilities.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Read "The E Myth Revisited" to learn how to work ON your business (not just IN it).
  2. Momentum trumps perfection.
  3. Value your employees even higher than your clients because then THEY will treat your clients like they're #1.
