What's your business, and who are your customers?
Maternity and Newborn Photography is a Toronto-based maternity, newborn, baby, and family photography service. My clients are parents-to-be, new parents, and families with kids.
Tell us about yourself
At the time of my son's birth, I wanted to capture the moments of his rapid growth because everything was blurred due to sleep deprivation. I looked into newborn photography and fell in love with all the cute images of babies and decided that I wanted to do the same. I feel blessed and grateful to have been able to photograph one of my clients' most important moments.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
The ability to do newborn and baby photo sessions at clients' homes without compromising quality is one of my biggest accomplishments. Since I started my business, I have made it my goal to keep my services affordable. My prices are fair, and I offer a variety of packages to suit different budgets.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Finding a balance between work and personal life is the hardest part of being a business owner. I can't pause my business on weekends or vacations because there is always work to be done.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Don't be afraid. Don't be afraid to learn something new, don't be afraid of competition, and don't be afraid of failure.
- Invest in your education. Invest your time and money to learn and improve. In the end, it will have the best return and help you to avoid mistakes.
- Don't be afraid to quit if your business doesn't work for you. There is no point to continue doing something that you don't like anymore or something that doesn't work for you.
