Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and fitness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Masha Katasonov, a certified fitness coach based in Montréal, QC, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Confidence is key. As a certified fitness coach, I work for people aged between 18 to 35 who want to get their sh*t together. They're tired of the pain. Maybe they've just been through a terrible breakup. Sometimes, they don't even see the point anymore.

Somehow, we find ways to channel the pain into great personal accomplishments every time. It's amazing what my people are capable of achieving. It shocks me every time. I'm just humbled to be a part of the process.

From 1:1 coaching to group programs, I love being creative in my online business models. The question is always: How can I make self-improvement more personal?

Tell us about yourself

Honestly, I was at a breaking point myself: I felt lost and confused with my life. What I was studying wasn't making me hungry for more. I knew something had to change, but I didn't know what.

One day, looking out my window, I asked myself: what is one thing you've been good and consistent at for 5+ years of your life? The answer: fitness. Communication. Building communities. Boom. That was my recipe. Without fitness, I wouldn't have made it emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. Without knowing what would happen next, I decided to get certified and learn about nutrition and habits.

I started posting online and attracted some great friends who helped me start a business. It just happened: life showed me where to go. I have amazing friends.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

  • Going through failures with a smile.
  • Handling rejections well.
  • Becoming a better and more organized leader.
  • Never giving up on myself and the process, no matter how difficult it gets

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Overthinking! I'm always wondering what I could do next, what I could change, what I could improve...

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. What's your mission, and is it necessary for you to fulfill it in a business?
  2. Are you willing to sacrifice going out, spending money on luxury, and seeing friends for a while?
  3. Work on your soft skills. Get comfortable with your uniqueness.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

I'm thankful for the opportunity to speak my mind about what matters most in my life.
