Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Martha Humphreys, Founder of Coachwrite, located in Noxon, MT, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

As an affordable professional writer with decades of experience, my purpose now is to share that knowledge with others who write personally and professionally.

Tell us about yourself

As a young mother, I realized that, yes, you could have it all---just not all at the same time. I began by writing for little-literaries, then magazines. Moving to SoCal, I realized I had more opportunities in the film/tv business for more income. With the help of my mentors (Helen and Al Levitt), the transition was easy from prose to script writing. Having escaped the Hollywood crazy for Montana, I found the time to indulge my passion for the written word in all its forms and pay it forward who will benefit from my experience.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Emmy Award, NY Film Festival Finalist, Scott Newman Award for my work as a writer/producer independent contractor.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Persistence in the face of challenges that are out of your control.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Do Your Homework:

  1. Know your target market.
  2. It's ABOUT THEM, not you
  3. Financial stability to provide confidence in the marketplace.
