What's your business, and who are your customers?

P21 Mind-Body Wellness Coaching is a holistic health and mindset practice. I work with high-powered women who have hit a threshold in their professional or personal life and cannot figure out why. These women can't seem to fully step into their dream life, so they feel "stuck," and as a result, suffers from hormonal imbalances, weight gain, hair loss, poor digestion, fatigue, brain fog, and other feelings of dysfunction in the body. I help these women to create energetic synergy between the four core areas of health: mindset, physical, social, and environmental. I do this with a blend of holistic practices and therapies, such as Visualization, NLP (Neuro-Linguistics Programming), Timeline Therapy®, HeartMath intervention, Hypnotherapy, Integrative Nutrition, Health Coaching, Pranic Healing, and Biofeedback. I also place a strong emphasis on the gut-brain connection and the relationship between gut health, hormonal balance, and overall wellbeing. Having corrected my own hormonal imbalance with a 21-day Clean Eating Program. It took 21 days of consistency to create new habits and turn my health around (the inspiration for the name "P21" – which stands for the Power of 21) days.

Tell us about yourself

For many years, I suffered from hormonal imbalances (PMS, Painful Menstrual Cycles, Over and Underactive Thyroid), gut imbalances, weight issues, and self-sabotaging emotional abuse. I tried approach after approach to resolving these issues. Nothing from the standard medical model was able to free me from my own prison. Finally, enough was enough, and I made a desperate plea, declaring that if I could heal myself of these conditions, I would spend the rest of my life helping others heal as well. I was introduced to natural health, and over the course of ten years, I researched advanced mind and body modalities, healing herbs, quality products, nutraceuticals, and services to help me heal at both a cellular and energetic level. With a combination of Bioenergetics, Nutrition, and Natural Healing methods, I've taken the knowledge and experience I had learned and created programs and protocols to empower my clients to become Leaders and Advocates for their own Health and Wellness.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

For most of my career, I worked in Telecommunications and Project Management. Working hard, rising through the ranks, and earning a healthy salary, I was doing everything "right,"… and yet I couldn't shake the feeling that I was on the wrong path.

I sensed that I had a purpose beyond the 9-5. Even when I landed a sought-after position at a prestigious company, the feeling only grew stronger. While I was grateful for all I had, I realized I was anything but happy. Through much soul-searching and personal prayer, I found myself drawn strongly towards holistic wellbeing and life coaching since it had pretty much saved my life. Now I had a dilemma. I couldn't deny the power of what I was learning and truly believed it could transform my life and others. But could I really leave a lucrative career that was gaining so much momentum? After a leave of absence, my heart made the decision for me. I instinctively knew that this was the beginning of a new chapter, so I handed in my resignation and leaped headfirst into my true-life purpose. My heart didn't steer me wrong. The day after I resigned, I was expecting a $1,000 payment that turned out to be $11,000. Taking this as a sign, I poured my heart and soul into the business that would become P21 Mind-Body Wellness Coaching. Today, I find my work infinitely more fulfilling. I reflect back on how I used to wake up with a sense of dread, knowing that I was getting back on the hamster wheel to do the same old thing as yesterday. Now, I wake up every single day with peace and purpose, excited to think about the incredible people I get to work with and all the ways I can help them achieve their own dreams. Finally, I can say, "I Am Truly Happy."

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

I enjoy helping people, and I want to attract clients and keep them happy, but it's not easy to work with someone who doesn't respect your time. I had to learn early on, to establish healthy boundaries with myself and my clients prior to starting a working relationship (when it came to accessibility and communication).

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Don't ignore your intuition.
  2. Let go of the noise.
  3. Listen to your heart.
  4. If your inner voice is telling you it's time to make a change, I urge you to trust it with all your heart. Your heart sends more information to your brain than vice-versa, so when you're making a decision, it's important to tune into what your heart is saying. However, in order to do that, you have to be able to tune out lots of overwhelming external noise — your own fears or doubts, judgment or skepticism from those around you, or even the expectations of society in general.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Believe in yourself:
No matter how much you want something, you will only achieve it if you believe that you can. If you don't, you'll always find reasons not to show up fully or to give up when things get rough. You have to find peace with your decisions, believe that you'll be successful, and have faith that you can overcome any challenges thrown at you.
