What's your business, and who are your customers?
I own Marmeez, where we create beautiful home decor and candle pieces for women who love to gather their families and celebrate the seasons. Our customers especially love anything "Pumpkin Spice" in the fall.
Tell us about yourself
Remember those middle school tests you take to find out what career path might be right for you? Well, mine said Entrepreneur, and I thought Ya Right! I don't even know what that is. Well, here I am, loving every minute of owning my own business and being creative every day. I thrive on learning and creating beautiful pieces to share with others.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment has been winning $10,000 in a pitch competition, much like Shark Tank. I had 3 minutes to pitch my business and share what I have done, who I serve, and how I want to grow. It was absolutely terrifying because I am an introvert, and public speaking is not for me. That probably is why it has been my biggest accomplishment. Becoming an eCommerce business owner has pushed me in so many ways.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Being a business owner is like riding a roller coaster. There are such highs and lows, and it changes every day. The hardest part is being in those lows and getting motivated again.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Know your WHY. My WHY keeps me going on hard days.
- Be consistent...I do one thing in my business every day and let that be enough sometimes. I am a busy mom of 5, and some days that one thing is enough.
- Don't be afraid of failing. Let your mistakes be learning moments.
