Tell us about yourself

In 2020, after getting laid off from the agency I was working with, I noticed a lot of nonprofits getting the short end of the stick with contractors and consultants. Nonprofits were out hundreds of thousands of dollars for in-person services that companies literally could no longer deliver because we were all in lockdown. That didn't sit well with me, so I started volunteering to help nonprofits during this transition time. Well, one thing led to another, and Marketing Mission was born. Fast forward three years later, and here's a quick, handy recap of what I do (and who for!)

At Marketing Mission, my expertise lies in nonprofit marketing. I've built a reputation for maximizing the marketing efforts of nonprofits and streamlining their operations to save them valuable time. The individuals who benefit most from my services are nonprofit fundraisers, founders, and executive directors.

These dedicated individuals often find themselves overwhelmed and overworked when it comes to marketing. But fear not! I bring the most valuable solution to their frustrations – the Maximized Marketing Intensive. In just one week, we embark on an exhilarating journey together, creating your powerful Nonprofit Marketing Toolkit. These assets will revolutionize your marketing approach, freeing you to increase your impact and funding without losing your mind.

My mission is to help nonprofits thrive by revolutionizing their marketing approach. Because, together, we can make a tangible difference in the world.

What's your biggest accomplishment as an organization?

As a business owner, one of my proudest accomplishments has been the opportunity to assist nonprofits in raising over $9.5 million dollars. Witnessing the tangible impact of our collaborative efforts has been truly fulfilling. Through strategic marketing initiatives, we have helped organizations amplify their message, connect with their supporters, and generate vital funding.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being an organization?

One of the greatest challenges that comes with being a business owner is navigating the ebb and flow of the business while maintaining a healthy work-life balance. In a society that often glorifies overworking and constantly striving for more, it can be difficult to establish boundaries and resist the pressure to keep pushing harder.

As entrepreneurs, we are bombarded with messages that imply our worth is directly tied to our productivity and the amount of time we dedicate to our businesses. However, it is essential to recognize that this mindset is often fueled by a capitalistic agenda that perpetuates the idea of endless work.

Learning to say 'no' is a crucial skill that business owners must master. It involves making tough decisions about what opportunities to pursue and which ones to decline. Saying 'no' allows us to focus on what truly aligns with our values, goals, and overall well-being. It enables us to prioritize our time and resources effectively, ultimately leading to more sustainable growth and success.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow an organization today?

  1. Emphasize the Value: When starting a business, it's crucial to focus on packaging your process and highlighting the value you provide. Instead of merely selling a product or service, think about the outcomes and experiences your customers desire. Create a brand that showcases how your offering can make their lives easier, more convenient, or more enjoyable.
  2. Build a Lifestyle Brand: Consider building a lifestyle brand around your business, regardless of the product or service you offer. Connect with your target audience on a deeper level by aligning your brand with their aspirations, values, and desires. Selling marketing? Nah, we're selling ease and more access to time. Selling coffee? Nah, you're selling a morning pick-me-up.
  3. Prioritize Access to Time: In today's fast-paced world, time is a precious commodity. Whether you're selling a product, service, or expertise, emphasize how your offering provides ease, convenience, and time-saving benefits. Help customers understand how your business can streamline their lives, simplify processes, or free up their time to focus on what matters most to them.
