Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Marisol Kim, Certified Nutrition Consultant, located in San Francisco, CA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am a Nutritionist and specialize in healing the gut and all things related to digestion. There're many things that seem unrelated to the gut but can be healed by simply addressing it: weight management, stress/mood, skin issues, hormonal imbalances, energy, and so on.

I use Functional Medicine to help people figure out which foods are their medicine and which foods are their poison. Also, I address the psychology of eating to help people ultimately achieve a better and more intuitive way of eating. Each body is unique, and each mind is also unique. I want to help people take control of their own livelihood and health.

Tell us about yourself

I first witnessed the power of natural medicine at a very early age. I was experiencing chronic digestive pain, and my grandfather healed me through acupuncture. Years later, as an adult, I began to suffer from ulcers, food sensitivities, allergies, and chronic digestion problems. Western medicine did not help me get to the root of the problem, so I turned to holistic nutrition with amazing and lasting success. This led to a life-long love affair with the healing power of food and natural medicine. I am passionate about food and natural medicine. My mission is to nourish lives by sharing my nutritional knowledge and experience with my community.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Persevering through challenging times and a genuine interest in working with people.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Wearing all the hats. It can be hard to delegate work, but it is smart to do so, especially in the areas that are not one's forte.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Make connections with other business owners so you can learn from others who are successful. Do not get attached to any particular outcome. Sometimes it's best to accept a different outcome and learn from it. Don't let disappointments stop you in your tracks.
