Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Norma Reyes, PhD, Founder of Manifest Your Career, LLC., located in San Antonio, TX, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

My business is Manifest Your Career. I help spiritual Latinas identify and overcome their career mindset blocks so they can manifest the career of their dreams.

Tell us about yourself

I first started my business in the Fall of 2019. I had just had my second son and began my spiritual reawakening. I remembered that I wanted to empower other women to make bold career choices. Women who had not followed their intuition and found themselves feeling stuck or lost on what to do next in their careers.

In November 2019, I had my first client for my first coaching program on overcoming imposter syndrome. Since then, I’ve worked with many women looking to overcome their self-doubt and gain clarity on what they really want for their career growth. What motivates me each day is knowing that what I do matters. That I am helping women believe in themselves and their career dreams again.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is helping each of my clients. Seeing how my work with them has and continues to transform their thinking and their careers.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner is solitude. It can get lonely because so many don't understand what you're doing or why. So it's super important to build your own support group of like-minded people. To help support you and push you when your light begins to dim. It happens to everyone, but when you have your community believing in you, it's easier to re-light your spark.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

The top three tips I'd give to someone wanting to start their own business are to create a plan, ask questions, and share it with everyone. The best way to get advice and spread the word about your business is by asking questions and being willing to be open and vulnerable. Businesses often fail because people aren't willing to share that they are struggling, don't know something, or just need some help. So be humble and remember your why on days you're feeling demotivated.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

One last thing I'd like to share is to reflect! It's easy to get stuck in the weeds, but it's important to stop and reflect on what direction we're headed. And after some introspection, ask yourself, is this still the direction I want to be heading? And if it isn't, remember that it's okay to change your mind. Some goals are meant to be achieved, and others are there to teach us something; the only way to know what it means to do is by reflecting!
