Interested in starting your own journey in the technology business but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Peter Semkowski, founder of Auxe, located in Toronto, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Auxe is a platform that provides technology installations for our customers. Auxe makes in-home and commercial tech easy by offering fast and affordable TV, smart device, and CCTV security camera installations. We service customers across all sectors.

Tell us about yourself

I launched Auxe with my co-founders at 23 in business school. We felt taken advantage of by large corporations who significantly overcharged for tech services such as phone repair and Wi-Fi support. Not only are we more niche in offering strictly in-home tech offerings as opposed to dozens of less specialized handyperson services, but we take personal ownership in ensuring customer satisfaction. This is why we own and manage a Google My Business page in every city we operate in.

At Auxe, we love technology and helping customers solve their technology issues. We are in a time with so much advancement in tech, and it’s amazing to learn about and implement. Personally, I am also motivated daily by progress. I love solving problems and seeing the grown of the Auxe technician community.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment is developing a skilled team of friends driven towards the same goal as a business owner. I wake up every day happy to work, and I love seeing my teammates do the same. I also am very accomplished to see the number of customers we have services and issues of theirs we have been able to solve.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things is continual motivation, even when times are uncertain. Covid, for example, was scary for our team. But in order to push through, we needed to keep positivity and drive, and make the right decisions.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Just do it - odds are your plan will change, but you won’t learn where you need to adapt until you test it out
  2. Teams are very important when looking to accomplish goals. Find your team and make sure they are the right players
  3. Positivity is one of the biggest assets in business. Be solution-minded with positivity

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

With a strong belief, a solution mindset, positivity, and a solid team, you can achieve almost anything.
