Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in fashion jewelry but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Andrea Enriquez, founder of Makala Jewelry, located in Toronto, ON, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Makala is a jewelry business. My main focus is on finding jewelry that is compatible with all types of personalities. I like to take everyone into consideration and cater to their likes and needs.

Tell us about yourself

I arrived three years ago in Toronto and Canada. I am from Mexico. I arrived with a huge dream that I would always want my own business. I learned about my mom; she has a jewelry addiction. She used to tell me that jewelry is a presentation letter for yourself. I have a businessman dad, so he also is a huge inspiration for me. My main motivation is all our clients who love our jewelry and want to buy more.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Open a business in a new country with a different culture.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

You have to hustle it alone. You have to do many different roles and knock on doors. Also, the barrier of the language.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Start, don't look back, don't be hard with you. Mistakes make you a better person.
