What's your business, and who are your customers?
Mobile app for helping people with Alzheimer’s maintain the greatest autonomy possible by not feeling like a burden to the family. It also helps caregivers and family members to try to avoid burnout syndrome. Our customers are caregivers and family members. We are available in Spanish but launching the English version soon.
Tell us about yourself
When I was young, my grandma was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. We saw her from doing everything to just laying in bed all day. Her name was Maiti. Because of her is that we decided to create the app. This app is to help people with Alzheimer’s have a better life quality and support caregivers/family members not to go through this illness as we did but help them go through it easily.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
With MAITI, we won the Santander explorer program. As winners, they sent us to the European Innovation Academy in Portugal, where we met with mentors, investors, and a lot of entrepreneurs from around the world.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Trying to find people that are passionate about your venture. If you can find that kind of person, it is easier to keep them motivated.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Try and find a business partner. Being a solo entrepreneur is possible, but it can get difficult when you need motivation.
- Don’t worry about money; if it is something worth it, people will help you to make it happen.
- Always remember about NDAs; it might seem silly sometimes, but it helps avoid unwanted situations.
