What's your business, and who are your customers?
I have an online training business where I teach business owners and entrepreneurs how to use social media and show them the right strategies to sell more of what they offer.
Tell us about yourself
I started my business when my youngest daughter was born for me to be more available for my kids and live the life I always wanted. I just love to teach and to help my students succeed. Seeing their businesses grow is absolutely the best and most gratifying for me.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
To be able to be in control of my time and not the other way around. I now choose how I spend my time, which projects and clients I take on and which I do not. I can now make absolutely sure that I spend a lot of my time with my family and kids.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Your management of time and making sure you are in control of it. Many business owners get so sucked into their businesses that they soon become slaves in their own businesses, working 24/7 and not making time for family and friends. In the beginning, it was hard to close my laptop at 5 on a Friday afternoon as I knew there was still so much to do, but you just have to get the discipline to do it.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- You don't need money to start your business; you can start where you are with what you have.
- You need to identify a product or service that actually solves a problem and adds value.
- You have to be passionate about what you are going to do as you will be spending a lot of time in your business.
