Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Madi Snow, a Stress Management Coach, based in Nashville, TN, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

My clients are high-achieving humans who want to create a better relationship with life, work, and stress so they can define what sustainable success looks like to them on a daily basis! I work with them in a 1:1 coaching program that empowers them to partner with their stress response through education on human biology and psychology.

Tell us about yourself

I'm a former healthcare professional with a Master's degree in Pathology - I know a LOT about human physiology. While burning out in medicine, I became interested in the psychology of stress and coaching. I gradually collected certifications and knowledge, then realized how needed this education was in the professional world - especially with professionals who are growing in their careers and need to define a relationship with stress. I left medicine in November 2020 to start my own business and help people redefine what stress means to them!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I have had multiple clients in medicine and helped shape their relationships with their careers; this is HUGE for me because I can actually SEE myself creating the change I want to see!

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The financial ups and downs. The fact that you're the only one validating your work sometimes, which can be really tough when we've learned to thrive under external validation!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. TRUST YOURSELF!
  2. Invest in some kind of stress coaching or education - understanding how your brain works is crucial for navigating entrepreneurship. Your energy is your number 1 resource, and you can easily burn yourself out.
  3. Be prepared to redefine what success looks like on a regular basis - you're not failing; you're learning.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Stress isn't an inevitable price of success or hard work; it's a normal physiologic response from our bodies to how we see our environment. When you understand your stress and what contributes to it or alleviates it, you feel more confident in navigating work and life!
