Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Christine Arseneau, founder of Lyme Support, located in St. Augustine, FL, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
My business, Lyme Support, helps patients who are struggling with Lyme disease, tick-borne infections, and chronic complex health challenges they have not been able to successfully address with mainstream healthcare - such as chronic fatigue, pain, gut problems, neuro issues, and other mysterious symptoms. These patients have usually been to several practitioners without getting clear answers and are starting to lose hope that they can heal. Lyme Support provides health coaching, education, and hospital referrals so that these patients can better navigate their disease, manage symptoms, and reclaim health.
Tell us about yourself
I spent 20 years of my life chronically sick with mysterious symptoms. When I finally identified and cured myself of chronic Lyme disease, I knew I would never settle in a job I didn't absolutely love and work in a system that didn't serve patients with chronic diseases ever again. That is why I chose to become an entrepreneur. It met my needs to manage my health, and it allowed me to follow my passion for helping others end their struggle so much faster than I did.
Throughout my years of entrepreneurship as a pharmacist and health coach, I noticed a large percentage of people with chronic Lyme disease were not fully recovering. I realized there isn't one right protocol for everybody, and healing isn't about just focusing on the physical body. That's why I use a customized, individualized approach - coming from a functional medicine perspective and helping clients understand true healing comes from within - by trusting your intuition and incorporating mind, body, and spirit so true healing can be obtained. You can find purpose in life again.
I find it so empowering I can customize solutions - if I had chosen a traditional field, I would not have that flexibility.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is identifying the "right" business attraction funnel for me. Positioning myself as an expert and creating my signature "healthinar" adds that layer that I needed to create a warm audience and verified leads. I also book regular expert guest appearances and write expert articles for publications for the same reason. Once I overcame the hump of "cold" leads, my business got easier.
Having this funnel in place allows me to make a big difference in people's lives. By coaching them on mindset and lifestyle changes, I get to make an impact on people's health directly and see the amazing shifts in their symptoms and beliefs.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Prioritizing what to focus on - so you can have the biggest impact and see results instead of just staying "busy." As an entrepreneur, you wear a lot of hats… ALL the hats in your business! So there are a lot of tasks to juggle, and managing which activities you focus on is crucial.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Believe in yourself! Nobody else will believe in you more than yourself or be more excited about creating your business than you.
- Focus on your WHY, and the HOW will present itself.
- Surround yourself with a community of entrepreneurs who understand your struggles and are also dedicated to forging their own paths.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
I have created a free training to share what it takes actually to heal. I truly believe that fully recovering from Lyme disease and other chronic complex health challenges can be possible… and it all starts with a comprehensive individualized plan that incorporates mindset practices into your healing.
You can watch this new "healthinar" here: www.lymesupport.com/heal, and by the time you finish watching it, you will know the number one tip that can set you free, which is often overlooked by doctors. You will have a tangible plan for changes that you can implement in your life right now to start noticing shifts in your symptoms.
