What's your business, and who are your customers?
LUV + CO. is a conscious color cosmetics brand for wellness-minded women of diverse skin tones. We offer clean beauty essentials for eyes, lips, and face that are made from 100% minerals or high % organic ingredients.
Tell us about yourself
I created LUV + CO. after researching how health disparities in women of color are linked to color cosmetics for my dissertation. The topic was chosen because I couldn't find make-up for my skin tone that would conquer severely uneven skin and have healthy ingredients. As a former MUA, I applied color theory and ingredient knowledge to develop products that won't exacerbate common health disparities for women of color but instead help cover and heal stressed skin. Our products empower our customers to live freely, creatively, and on purpose loving their look and their skin.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Developing a full product line that has value to the women that use it as added wellness in their daily routine.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Understanding when it is time to hire and delegate things in your business to others that you can train and spending more of your time as a founder doing things only you can do.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Pursue your vision with all your heart and energy- go ALL in.
- Pitch your brand so other people can see your vision and create collaborations with you.
- Ensure your product solves your target market's pain points.
