What's your business, and who are your customers?
We do the same thing any good business does; we try to make the world a little nicer place to be. For me and all of us here, there's something wonderful about coming together with friends, family, or anyone else. Community is hugely important, and the community needs a space to live. That's the part that we try to help with, making a great space for coming together. We try to build furniture that will make you want to invite people over, tables that will take whatever you can throw at them. We mostly build custom tables for people who want something that will last. We're always excited when we can build something perfect for someone and see it all come together in a space. I suppose that's our business; we build things right so you can have something perfect for your space and for your community.
Tell us about yourself
We started our business with a conversation that started with my dad saying, "I think we could do that," and as they say, the rest is history. I really do love what I do, though, I think the tables are fantastic, and I love working with my family and friends every day. I get to learn so much all the time, and I get to make real, tangible things. It's hard work every day, but it's fun and exciting.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Probably the team we've got here and how well we work together. It's so exciting to be able to work with people who are generally excited. Although most recently, I'm pretty proud of some of the videos I made to help people customize tables.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
When someone isn't happy with their table. It doesn't often happen, which is great, but it's always tough when after everyone's done their best to make everything perfect, it hasn't worked out properly. Figuring out how to fix that to make everyone happy is always hard, especially after people have worked so hard.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Make sure you love what you do; you'll have to do it a lot.
- Make sure you take care of yourself; you're very important to the business.
- Treat everyone well, your team, your vendors, and your customers; no matter what happens, always trust that they're smart, reasonable people trying their best. It'll pay off.
