Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Jennifer Paster Detmer, Founder of Livthentic, located in West Chester, PA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Livthentic ™ serves high-performing leaders and organizations in the pharmaceutical industry and start-up environments as a leadership coach and strategy advisor. I help you clarify decision-making, remove the noise and chaos of the long list of to-dos with clear prioritization, and connect with your team members and fellow leaders to create authentic, powerful short and long-term results that align with your personal and organizational values and goals.

My individual clients need help developing their personal vision, setting clear goals that work in the real world, and cutting through the clutter and buzz of decision-making. Many of them are high achievers who want to feel more alive in their work. In some cases, they climb to the top of their ladder only to be left wondering if they climbed the right one and become stuck because it feels like there is too much at stake. They want to reconnect to what sparks them in their career, find new ways of working that don't trade off happiness for success, and tap into the passion of their teams to build stronger organizations.

My team and organizational clients often work in a start-up or lean mode with a high passion for the service, product, or cause they are working toward. They are successful and usually have a number of employees that are tired or on the brink of burnout because they are trying to do so much. I help them identify their priorities, tap into the passion in their teams, and build their commercial organization in a way that honors their values, enables leadership at all levels, and develops a coaching culture.

POTENTIAL OUTCOMES YOU CAN EXPECT:

  • Clarity around what you really want.
  • Actionable steps to achieve it in the real world.
  • Relaxation, less stress, less noise.
  • More options, better results, and success coupled with joy.
  • Become the authentic leader, parent, partner, and/or friend you always wanted to be.

I see your spark and want to help you build it into a flame. Contact me for a discussion.

Tell us about yourself

Hi, I'm Jenn, an American that just relocated back to the USA from London and decided to climb a tree instead of a ladder. I've navigated a career that has taken me to the executive level at a Fortune 500 company, through motherhood, and into entrepreneurship with lots of plot twists. I have led global teams that pushed the boundaries of how we worked, been the only woman at the negotiation table, and created global best practices that resulted in a product launch plan that hit over $1 billion in sales in one season.

Along the way, I've learned that 'fancy a cuppa?' is British for 'I need to talk' and negotiating multi-million deals can be less mind-bending than negotiating bedtime with two toddlers. I love my career, but I am also a mother, wife, writer, painter, runner, and adventurer who loves to travel, and I make sure I serve those parts of me, too.

I'm inspired daily by the unique journeys of those around me. I want you and your organization to find your spark and design a life that is full of the sweet and savory flavors of new adventures.

Quick confession: I'm a coffee addict who plans my turtle-speed jogs so I can hit my favorite coffee shops on the way back.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My accomplishments are in the success of my individual clients. I am most proud of watching a business owner take six months off and still successfully build her business, an HR leader connects to her authentic leadership style and engages her team successfully and be promoted shortly after to a position she helped design and helping a start-up brand develop a coaching culture, prioritize effectively, and prepare to onboard external investment.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

As a business owner, I find my biggest challenge is learning to embrace the cyclical nature of entrepreneurship and redefining what success and consistency look like - as it's definitely not the same as collecting a paycheck in corporate each week. I have to trust my ability to be successful in the future based on what I have done to date and look at the longer horizon to recognize my efforts. It takes a new mindset and a wonderful support network to adjust and embrace the journey!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. If you have been dreaming of it, don't wait for perfect to start. What's a small step you can take today to get your business started?
  2. Make sure you have a few go-to people that are going through a similar process at the same time and believe in you. Entrepreneurship is full of ups and downs. It's really helpful if you have an honest, supporting circle of people you can go to when you are feeling down, want advice, and celebrate with you when things go well.
  3. Ask for help when you need it. People connect with businesses that show vulnerability. Be vulnerable with your clients, investors, and employees to build an authentic brand that can grow with you.
