Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Maddy Fry, Owner of Living in Sunshine, LLC., located in El Paso, TX, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Living in Sunshine is all about supporting and encouraging women to design a life of joy, intention, and one they are obsessed with. Typically, I support women in their early 20's and 30's who are struggling with their purpose, business, mindset, or general outlook on life.

Tell us about yourself

I started Living in Sunshine as a blog way back in 2018 but only just recently pivoted it to what it is today. I started this business because I used to be the woman I now serve, someone who had no idea what she was doing or where she was going. The thing that motivates me the most is getting to know that I can inspire women to chase their dream or get after a goal in their hearts just by sharing my story.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

One of my biggest accomplishments is having my podcast hit 10,000 downloads. I started my podcast, the Living in Sunshine podcast, about a year ago, and the growth has been amazing. The other thing I am so excited about is launching my online community and membership to support women on a more personal level.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Getting to all of the things on my to-do list. As an online business owner, there is so much to do, and sometimes it's hard to feel like it's all getting done. I am lucky enough to have an amazing assistant and manager who help me stay on track, though.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Get yourself in spaces where there are smarter people than you, people who have done what you want to do. You can't learn if you don't first find people to teach you.
  2. Accept failure and allow it to teach you.
  3. Don't be afraid to get uncomfortable. Growth comes from discomfort; lean into it.
