Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in food and beverage but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Suzanne Litteral, Founder of Litterally Divine Chocolates, located in Indianapolis, IN, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I'm in the business of making and selling chocolates. My customers are people who enjoy chocolate and/or want to buy a gift.

Tell us about yourself

I came across a recipe for truffles many years ago, which got me started making chocolates as a hobby. I shared my creations with friends and family, and a few of them eventually convinced me I should sell them. My repeat customers motivate me each day.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Staying in business as long as I have (almost 15 years), especially with the pandemic.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Staffing is the hardest for me.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Do your research and assess what competition is out there- so you don't get into an already saturated market. Concentrate on doing your best work, to the point where people seek you out, instead of constantly marketing and worrying about what the competition is doing. And be strategic about expanding- expand too fast, and it could end badly.
