What's your business, and who are your customers?

I support women entrepreneurs and leaders with a big imprint on their hearts to serve humanity and leave this world a better place. I help them get comfortable being visible on video and social media so their customers can easily find them and they can make the impact and income they came here to make.

What I have come to learn in my 25 years of coaching and teaching women in beauty, wellness, and the spiritual and self-development realm is that so many powerful, beautiful, smart, kind women are hiding in some parts of their lives. Taught at a young age that their power and beauty were somehow threatening to others and perhaps something to fear, they rejected parts of themselves to fit in, or at least to not stand out. Sadly these parts that they have disconnected from are the very essence of what makes them special, alive, radiant, and impactful! As a result, they have toned themselves down and are flying under that radar, afraid to draw attention to themselves and risk being shamed or kicked out of the pack once again that it doesn’t seem worth the risk. But this hiding is what keeps them from doing the very thing that is tugging on their hearts to do because you can’t be a secret and be a success!

Tell us about yourself

I was raised by an entrepreneurial father, so it feels like the entrepreneurial spirit and finding my own path are in my DNA! Plus, I actually started my career as an esthetician at the cosmetic counter at Nordstrom, so I received the unparalleled customer service training Nordstrom used to provide. For me, working for someone else was quite difficult because I knew the level of service I wanted to deliver, and the spa and wellness world is often a very messy and disorganized one behind the scenes. But if I am being honest, that is the case for many small service businesses where the owner is the manager, and also the main technician yet has never been trained in business! I was blown away when I first stepped in to help my now ex-husband with his Chiropractic office because it was an absolute mess, lol. I received some incredible hands-on training with what I encountered. That was actually the onset of me truly stepping into coaching holistic business owners, including other natural doctors and wellness centers.

Now that I get to combine my love for beauty and spirituality with my passion for business and serving women on a grand scale, this motivates me every single day. I know when I get to support these incredible souls who are super passionate about making an impact on the world, my impact is now quadrupled. This just lights me up because I have made it my mission to reach millions of women across the globe, waking them up to the sacred beauty lifestyle of owning their true power and beauty, both inside and out. When women are empowered, we empower others!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

This October 2022, I will be celebrating my 23rd year as an entrepreneur. This alone feels like such an accomplishment because data shows that approximately 20% of new businesses fail during the first two years of being open, 45% during the first five years, and 65% during the first ten years. Only 25% of new businesses make it to 15 years or more. I have continued to grow with the times and reinvent myself for our ever-evolving world to stay relevant and in demand.

When I started my skin and body center in 1999, I built it from the ground up and doubled my space within the first three years while making six figures - which is not common in the skin care industry. I went on to sell my business and deepen my career as an educator while expanding into holistic coaching businesses.

The biggest success just maybe that I did the classic covid pivot and shut down my successful skin and body studio in a prominent San Francisco neighborhood and was able to create a successful online business, kept my Skin Food natural and organic skin oils and creams flourishing and created the Sacred Beauty Lifestyle podcast and my Sacred Beauty Mentorship online coaching and programs.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Learning how to draw boundaries and create a container as to where work ends, and your personal life begins. This was something I had to overcome, and I have seen it time and time again with my clients. When you are super passionate and love what you do, it is easy to keep going, but it is a dangerous and slippery slope for many!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Make decisions quickly. Hemming and hawing over things is a waste of time and energy. Listen and trust yourself! We typically know the answers; we just need to slow down long enough to learn to listen and trust ourselves.
  2. Self Care -which includes your workouts, meditations, rest, sleep, and properly nourishing your body with healthy foods - are non-negotiables. You need to be on your game, and your body, mind, and soul need the proper care to achieve and sustain success.
  3. Don’t try to do it alone!!! Get support right at the onset of your journey and stay supported. Successful business people, just like successful athletes, always have coaches. This is definitely one of the key factors why I am going on my 23rd year as an entrepreneur.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

There is an African proverb that says, If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together. And here is what this means for entrepreneurial women today. It is critical that women entrepreneurs get the support they need because now, more than ever, we need women’s voices front and center. It really does take a village. So come out, come out, wherever you are. Let’s do this thing, together.
