Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal and business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Lisa De Nicola, Corporate Consultant & Intuitive Leadership Coach, located in Toronto, ON, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am a Corporate Consultant and an Intuitive Leadership Coach! I work with mid-sr. level executives to help them become the directors of their life so they can do business and live life on their terms. My work varies and includes working intimately with 1:1 clients, to group work and speaking engagements. My love of people has me focused on transforming leadership at the individual and organizational level, partnering with small-medium-sized businesses to help them build the foundation of their business with a people-first approach. A brighter and better future for us all starts when we have the right leaders in place across the board who have our best interest at heart.

Tell us about yourself

My vision for my business came about years ago, although it took some time for me to actually 'see' it. When I did, it was marrying of all my years of experience in my former corporate career plus the excitement and growth that comes with a new business endeavor and, frankly, a mission that only I could fulfill, knowing the uniqueness of my message and what I'm here to do.

I'm driven by a vision I have for the future of leadership, a way of working, doing business, and living life that includes much more heart and soul than I think many of us can agree we need more of in our everyday life and businesses. I love being a catalyst that propels' others along their journey and using my full creative freedom to do work that uses all my gifts and talents.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I would say how far I've come in my coaching journey in just a few years. I'm in pursuit of my MCC (Master's Coach Certification), the highest credentialing you can receive through the ICF (International Coach Federation). I've been diligently focused on refinement and mastery in my craft and service offerings which anyone in their entrepreneurial journey can attest to; it takes time and much effort!

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The mindset work that's so vital to navigate the highs and lows that come with growing a business. Identify the right support at the various stages of your journey and growth as well.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Get clear on the reason for starting your business and make sure your heart's in it. Your heart will never steer you wrong, and that's the best and safest place to look when you're thinking about a business you want to start is truly what you want to do.
  2. Work with a coach early on. Specifically, a Coach who works on stretching your thinking and helps you 'see' clearly.
  3. Ask for support when you need it. Trying to do everything by yourself is a fast way to burn out and is preventable. Don't be shy to ask for help, especially the things that eat up too much of your time and take you away from being on the front lines. Too much time in the back takes you away from being out in front with your clients.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Being an entrepreneur is the greatest personal development you will go through! Be open, be curious and enjoy the ride.
