Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Lillian Love, a transformational mentor, a purpose-centered business coach, and a feminine embodiment guide based in Hilo, HI, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

My business is a Sex, Love & Soul Purpose Coaching Business. I am a Feminine Embodiment Guide for Women Soul-preneurs who desire to magnify their message, medicine & masterclass mojo. I am also a documentary filmmaker that heals, educates, and inspires people in the realm of sexuality & spirituality.

Tell us about yourself

I began my business out of my own trauma-healing journey and spiritual awakening. I was not looking to become a coach or start a business. I was actually a film, TV & theatre actress in Los Angeles, but I recognized in my personal life that I needed to make a change on the inside to see different results in my relationships and with my self-confidence. So I decided to get sober from drinking alcohol and dove into every healing and therapy modality that I could find. I went to breathwork workshops, energy healing, plant medicine ceremonies, talk therapy, somatic therapy, Yoga, Tantra, and so much more.

I was in a Tantra-Yoga Teacher Training, not thinking I would be a teacher, just really wanting to study and heal, and I heard my inner soul voice tell me that I am a leader, a healer, a guide for others. I deflected the voice with my ego/mind voice and told my soul, "I'm not a leader. I don't have anything of value to offer others" — immediately, my soul voice rose up strong and clear and said, "It's not about you!" That stopped me in my tracks and got me to listen. It went on, "This work saved your life, it has given you a wellspring of inner resources to meet the current challenges and pain of the past with peace. Who are you to keep from sharing these tools and wisdom from others who need it too?"

And so, I said yes to the path of being a space for others to connect to their soul voice, to trust their inner wisdom, and to bring their soul purpose forward in service to a greater collective awakening. This is what motivates me every day - seeing people remember their power and create more beauty, harmony, and love in their world.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I have run high-end week-long retreats in Hawaii, the Hamptons, Bali, Amsterdam, Dubai, Ibiza, Mexico, and Los Angeles. My documentary film, Cosmic Touch, exploring the transformational healing power of self-pleasure, won Best Film at the Flow Film Festival in 2020. I am the author of "Sexy Confidence: 7 Days & 7 Secrets to Being the most confident you" and run an online Program called BLOOM: A 3-Month Program for Women Ready to BLOOM into their next level of Embodied Expression, Channeled Wisdom, & Feminine Leadership! Even with all these, I would say my biggest accomplishment in my business is that I get to do what I love and support people to change their lives for the better!

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Technology! In our modern day, it's both a gift that we can reach each other across the globe via the internet, and also, sometimes it feels like a hindrance and challenge to be on technology and learning how to get all the parts working for smooth business flow! Luckily there are people versed in this, and practice makes perfect!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Connect with your Bigger Soul Why! Beyond wanting to be financially successful, get clear on what you really care about. What really motivates you? What positive impact and legacy do you want to leave the world and/or your children? This deeper, heart-centered WHY will be what you return to when things are challenging. It's what will support you to return to the heart of your passion and help you keep showing up or keeping things fresh!
  2. Release the things that are not truly important or supportive to you. Before you begin a new business endeavor, or if you are feeling stagnant in your current one or just desire to grow to the next level of your business expansion and expression, have a look at your life in all the areas and see what is not lighting you up anymore. What is not necessary for you to be spending your time on, or what is not nourishing to your creative being? When we clear out what is no longer serving us, we make space for more energy and time for the things we really want to focus on. Running a business is a big endeavor and requires us not to have unnecessary leaks in our life force energy, be it in our relationships or other projects.
  3. Have a mentor & community. Don't try to do this alone! Get the training, support, and accountability to stay on the path and keep that student's mind so you are always growing and learning from the challenges. We are relational beings, so even in business, we were never meant to figure it all out on our own. Success is so much better when shared. Receiving support is a sign of a true leader!
